A number of PT jobs Phoenix (Click here) and other pediatric-focused positions are combining forces.
Phoenix Children's Hospital and Catholic Healthcare West recently announced plans to merge their respective pediatric programs in Maricopa County. Combining the two programs will enhance patient care and lead to the development of more comprehensive programs.
Most pediatric healthcare employees with CHW, along with most of the organization's pediatric services, will move to Phoenix Children's Hospital at the beginning of June. The hospital is expected to open a new tower at that time.
"The State of Arizona needs and deserves a leading provider of complex and specialty care dedicated to children to support the tremendous market growth ahead," Robert L. Meyer, president and CEO of Phoenix Children's Hospital, said in a statement.
Under the agreement, almost all of CHW's pediatric services will move to Phoenix Children's Hospital, while all CHW facilities in Arizona will continue to care for patients who are 15-years or older.
Services that are moving to Phoenix Children's Hospital include:
- Cardiology
- Cardiothoracic surgery
- Catheterization services
- Child abuse
- Critical care
- Developmental pediatrics
- General medicine
- General surgery
- Neurology
- Neuro-rehabilitation
- Neurosurgery
- Oncology
- Orthopedic surgery
- Pediatric rehabilitation
- Pulmonary services
St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, Chandler Regional Medical Center (Click here for more Chandler jobs), and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center - all of which are operated by CHW - will continue to offer obstetrics services. St. Joseph's also will continue to operate a neonatal intensive care unit.
"We are very pleased that this arrangement allows CHW to continue a 116-year tradition of service to children and families while also allowing us to develop programs that are required to meet the needs of this growing region," Linda Hunt, service area leader for CHW Arizona and president and CEO of St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, said. "Combining resources means young patients will have unmatched care. It will also strengthen the financial status of both organizations."
